"I think like with anything with James, when he comes back for a sequel, it becomes bigger and better. And broader, and more funny, more action, more character work, it's cool. It's really fun, it's super fun."
"I've been in training now for about eight weeks, and in a couple months we start. Well, they start in about a month and a half, a month or so they start."
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dolph Lundgren explained why he thinks the upcoming Aquaman sequel will be better than the first film:
“That whole picture is just a class act. Everybody from James Wan and Jason Momoa to Amber Heard and the producers. I think this one is better. I think the script is stronger and it’s more exciting. The technology has moved forward in four years, so I was really pleased to be a part of it. James Wan is just going to blow everybody away again by this tremendous world that he creates. He’s involved in every little detail, even every little piece of every weapon, and I think it’s going to be great.”
"I think in the next Aquaman, I really wanted to put more personality into the character for us to sort of get to know him in some more private moments. Wanted to see [Black Manta] struggle with some things, then to see a bit more of his personality and character. Also, to see what it looks like for him to be in charge of something. So we get to see a little bit more of his leadership style, a little bit more of his personality in this one. And he's back for more, no doubt, in a big way."
It sounds like Warner Bros. really didn't want to bring Heard back for Aquaman 2, but director James Wan and Jason Momoa reportedly fought to keep her in the film, and may have been instrumental in convincing the studio to leave any of her scenes in tact.
“Ms. Heard was not invited to be either in the poster or to be at the [FanDome] event, and, in fact, they told her she cannot come," Industry Insider Katryn Arnold claims. "In February 2021, there were conversations that Amber’s, I’m going to be technical with you, her option for employment was not going to be exercised. So they may not have hired her again. Her management team fought very hard and they ultimately ended up hiring her, but not only because of what her management did, but also because star Jason Momoa and director James Wan committed to her.”
