Nearly a decade of getting to do this. 10 years ago, we would have gleefully taken these BONKERS 2nd weekend numbers as our opening weekend.
The way #DeadpoolAndWolverine has captured the moment is hard to process. Feels a bit like it’s happening to someone else. Either way, making these movies has been more fun than anyone has a right to have. I can’t help but skip down memory lane a bit.
There are way too many people who’ve made pivotal creative contributions to list, but obviously my long time co-writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (without whom there would be no Deadpool movie) Tim Miller, Mr David Leitch (who also made Fall Guy — one of the best of the summer films), 20th Century Fox, George Dewey and Kevin Feige. Last on the list but first in my heart: my creative, spiritual (and damn near literal) brothers, Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman.
This has always been a game of inches and the relentlessness we hit this movie with (particularly in post production which is another phase of the writing process) is something I’ll never forget.
Thank you to every single person who showed up for this film. Thank you to everyone seeing it multiple times, making friends with new characters and tipping our hats to some familiar faces we love from the past. What a damn thrill this has been.
"Yeah, that was a part of it. But like that, you're never going to get the mislead with like, Chris Evans, you know, with him doing it and the kind of license to thrill after that, with Chris. So you know, and also, we were trying to be mindful of the budget. We were trying to make the movie. We always understood it's rated R, you know. It isn't a blank check, and part of our responsibility is to return the investment that they're making in us. So I never want a budget that I don't feel like I can make good on. And the more kind of toys you start asking for and the more kind of characters you start wanting to license, the deeper in that sort of point of no return becomes."
Leading the Visual Development team here at Marvel Studios on the upcoming film DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE was a big deal to me for so many reasons. One big reason being that, as some of you may know, I started my career as a comic book artist. And the guy who gave me my 1st job was none other than Deadpool creator himself @robliefeld I’ll definitely have more to say once the film comes out. I can’t wait! For now check out and preorder THIS book that showcases the concept designs and ideas my amazing team & I (& so many other amazing artists from the other departments) came up with for this film! MARVEL STUDIOS’ DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE: THE ART OF THE MOVIE comes out THIS October!
Note: Not final cover art BUT it does showcase my concept design of Deadpool I did

#deadpoolandwolverine art being released! Had the honor of working the film led by the amazing @andyparkart. This was a super fun keyframe depicting one of the fight sequences in the film. The song was already chosen at that point so listening to it while working on the piece definitely added a layer of enjoyment to the experience. Still can’t believe I was allowed to depict that much blood. This piece will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool & Wolverine”#marvelstudios #deadpool #wolverine #deadpoolandwolverine #conceptart #illistration
Never thought I would ever get a chance to paint @chrisevans so I was absolutely thrilled and honored for the opportunity to be able paint him in the red white and blue #marvelstudios #marvel #humantorch This piece will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool & Wolverine
DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE film concept art series: Deadpool! This was an earlier version of a Deadpool design I did with the idea of upgrading him. So I wanted this to have a slight armored feel with upgrades throughout all while still maintaining the sleek silhouette that is Deadpool. Some of this did make it to the final, and a lot of this armor (& gold guns!) made its way to the Nicepool look.
It was such an honor to lead the Vis Dev team on this film & work with the amazing director @slevydirect , star/producer @vancityreynolds & the leadership at Marvel Studios!
This piece will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine.
DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE film concept art series: X-Baby Wolverine! This is not in the film, but how fun would it have been to see this Mojo X-Baby come to life? I was huge fan of what @chrisclearmountain & @arthuradamsart did in those Uncanny X-Men annuals!
This piece (& more) will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine.
