“My first audition was a self tape that I made in my house with my wife. I saw this sort of old Hollywood humour in it - like a Fred Astaire or a Donald O’Connor or a Jimmy Stewart humour. I was excited to do that and thought I’d do a good job with it, but I wasn’t sure James had intended it in that way. So, for all I knew that wasn’t what he was looking for.”
@hollywoodauthentic visited #DavidCorenswet at Atlanta’s Trilith Studios in February 2024, as he wore the Superman suit for the first time on day one of filming. Sixteen months later, we joined him at Juilliard - the New York conservatory where he trained and which he still calls ‘home’.
Now, ahead of the global premiere of @warnerbros Superman and a world tour to launch the new @superman - #DavidCorenswet reflects on stepping into the iconic role, collaborating with @jamesgunn and how his time at @juilliardschool continues to shape his roles.

Hello,Family and friends ,Im posting today the work I humbly did on James Gunn Superman working with great Costume Designer @judiannmakovsky and her team that she put together with her costume Assitant @michelemoon …it took a big team to work on characters like Superman …other concept artists that were apart of this team is @warrenmanser @gloriashih @robertmckinnon @christiancordella and @maybellepineda to name a few…I was very lucky to b apart of this team to help bring @jamesgunn vision of Superman keeping the over all look to the classic and we started with inspiration from the Christopher Reeves costume he wore in the original film bring it in today’s times from the new 52.we r all huge Superman fans and worked very hard to explore as many options as we could before one was chosen.Every line ,texture,shape was explored in great detail by this team …James Gunn and the studio wanted to bring back a light and hope with this new vision and Superman actor davidcorenswet Carrie’s that through as did the rest of the cast….Production Designer @bethmicklle and her team did stunning work creating the world and we all worked as one unit making sure keeping to the source material translating it into film…….@legacyeffects and there team did such beautiful work bringing the practical fx work to life in this film…I love when I get to see practical fx work on the big screen used so well…..congrats to all involved…..I love being a concept artist and still such a kid when I go see these films in the theatre with such delight …..more to come ……kindly thanks……..it’s kool to b kind:)…………. @dc @superman #conceptart #characterdesign #zbrush #keyshot

Hello Family and friends …….posting today Ultraman Concepts from @jamesgunn Superman …..I was brought on to work with great Costume Designer @judiannamakovsky and her costume Assitant @michelemoon ….the team they put together and that I was very fortunate to b apart of was amazing artist from @warrenmanser @gloriashih @maybellepineda @christiancordella @robmckinnon …….we worked as a team to help bring James Gunn vision to life…..James is a great leader with a specific vision of what he likes and it’s our job to help execute those ideas to his character…Ultraman was another challenging character that we explored and found the tone and style Gunn was looking for to tell his story…..often times we have to start with the actors digital body scan and build ontop of there porportions to help with the execution of his suit practically so we can make sure it will allow the design lines on the body with movement and b functional…so there for a neutral pose is necessary to help the team see the textures ,lines and details to help them execute as needed……shout-out to awesome production designer @bethmickle and her team and also the amazing practical fx work done for the film by @legacyeffects….everyone involved did beautiful work and the hard work paid off…….#superman #dc #ultraman #conceptart #characterdesign #zbrush #keyshot
