THR a écrit:"I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s [frick]ing Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like."
"It’s easier to take a character nobody knows, like the Guardians, or Peacemaker, and then do whatever you want with them. People in every single country in the world know the story of Superman."
"How can I make it different from the Superman movies that have been made so far, but also have it respect all the Superman movies that have been made so far?. So it just took me some time to try to figure it out."
According to The Wrap, James Gunn handed the script to Warner Bros. last week. The script being in the hands of the studio is good news for pre-production work, as even a draft allows casting, costuming and set design to start in full-swing. However, even with the script being in before the strike, Gunn is now forbidden by the WGA from working on rewrites for it for the remainder of the strike. While the strike may be over before the studio even finishes reading the script, the possibility of a longer one may mean that the film’s early submission didn’t save it from delays.
How did you make peace with saying goodbye?
Gunn: “I’m not a person who is comfortable saying goodbye … I can’t do it.”
Pratt: “We don’t have to say goodbye.”
Gunn: “I’m going to cry.”
Pratt: “Are you crying? The frequency with which we spend time together is inevitably going to go down because he’s going to go to do movies and I’m going to make movies and when we’re not doing that we’re going to go back to our families. But we will make time for each other and we’ll talk a lot. We’ll always be friends. We still have a long life ahead of us so maybe we’ll work together again. But for now there’s a finality to this trilogy.”
Gunn: “I was hoping I could cast you as Krypto the Superdog (in Superman Legacy). You could do motion capture on set and walk around on your hands and knees, but you can’t talk.
Pratt: “I’ll do Krypto but you have to pay me in crypto.”
Gunn: “I’ll pay you in crypto, which amounts to zero dollars. [laughs]
Pratt: “It sounds like there’s going to be a character called Krypto in Superman — breaking news.”
That’s a scoop for me.
Gunn: “It is a scoop, I guess.”
Pratt: “Way to go. You’re fired. Back to Marvel.” [laughs]
One source, without providing additional detail, dismissed some of the names as “a chatroom list.” Warners had no comment and one insider said the filmmakers and studio “are nowhere near a decision.”
