It’s no exaggeration to say Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated @theodysseymovie, out on July 17, had no small challenge set before it. Bringing Homer’s epic poem—an iconic work of literature in its own right—to the big screen would require...well, a Homeric effort. And so the Oscar-winning director pulled out all the stops, assembling a cast of A-list actors to fill out his vision.
But while #TheOdyssey might be so named for its mythological leading man, Nolan seems to have understood how profoundly Odysseus’s decade-long journey home from war is influenced by the women in his orbit. His decision to set out for the Trojan War in the first place—and his subsequent struggle to get home—is aided and challenged by a coterie of women played by iconic actresses (and ELLE’s Summer 2026 cover stars): @zendaya, @annehathaway, @lupitanyongo, and @charlizeafrica.
To that end, our cover stars each shared insights from their time on the set of ‘The Odyssey.’ See the exclusive photos and get the full inside look at the link in bio.
