"It’s going to be another beautiful journey in the desert again," Villeneuve told Deadline at the PGA Awards this weekend. "It's the journey where Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, make contact with the Fremen culture and meet with the Fremen. It’s Paul's journey against the enemy." Teasing what fans can expect, he added: "It's a movie that will be more cinematic."
Finally, the trade asked about recent reports that Black Widow star Florence Pugh is in talks to play Princess Irulan Corrino, the eldest daughter to Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, and the future spouse of Timothee Chalamet's Paul. All Villeneuve would say on the matter was, "There’s been rumors..."
This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Le co-scénariste Eric Roth sur l'intro de la 1ère partie :
"The original opening of the movie was like [The Book of] Genesis from the Bible...and you would see the creation of a planet. We think it's Earth and [instead] it's Dune, with these oddball animals and [we see] how the water went away and how the sand dunes were formed and all of that."
"And it was pretty great, I think [laughs] but Denis said 'This is magnificent but we can't afford the rest of the movie,' so that was it."

“In Part Two, you really dive into the different worlds of Dune. We see what the emperor’s world looks like. We go to his planet. We spend a lot of time on Giedi Prime, the Harkonnen planet. We spend a lot of time in Stellan Skarsgård’s [Vladimir Harkonnen] world. Feyd-Rautha [Harkonnen] also comes into this one, brilliantly played by Austin Butler, Elvis. He is pretty fabulous in it.
All the worlds get expanded. It was about creating three separate, different-looking worlds and also revisiting the Bene Gesserits, the age-old ones with these costumes that almost look like Egyptian mummies. I think it’s visually stunning, the sets, the cinematography and the concepts.”
