Il s'est également exprimé sur le fait de ne pas vouloir être un yes-man pour ce film et de faire son propre film . Il dit que c'était un peu le cas pour Furious Seven et Conjuring 2 et qu'il voulait vraiment apporter sa patte et son univers à Aquaman.

C'est pour ça qu'au début j'avais mit entre parenthèses que je suis ok qu'il soit un yes-man si il nous fait du Conjuring 2, mais en fait je ne suis pas sûr de comprendre ce qu'il veut dire.

Est-ce qu'il veut dire "Après ces deux films à faire ce que je voulais, je pouvais plus revenir en arrière et être un yes man", ou plutôt "Après ces deux films ou j'étais encore un peu un yes-man, ça ne pouvais plus continuer" ? C'est confu je trouve quand on prend compte des deux versions.

Aquaman director James Wan was recently asked about the prospect of competing alongside blockbusters like Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns. Wan revealed that he is in fact a bit nervous about it:

“For sure, I think I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. But generally around the holidays, there’s a lot to go around — which was pointed out to us when Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle opened on top of each other. He really told me to put in moments of me and find those moments that you can put you in the film so that it can shine through. He was a big influence for me and [I was} doing that a lot in Aquaman. So thanks, buddy!”

"We could have gotten a whole movie about Aquaman basically fawning over Mera the whole time and making all kinds of dirty jokes and things like that and they really had to get away from that, which is all what Whedon had done, so Snyder had a little bit of an influence on Aquaman. James Wan was showing Zack Snyder - against the studio's wishes - cuts of the movie and early test screenings and storyboards to make sure that they're on the same page with what he originally wanted and Snyder gave his blessing of approval, bringing it back to what he wanted all along."

In a recent interview with Empire, Peter Jackson revealed that former Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara offered him the chance to direct Jason Momoa’s first cinematic solo outing as Aquaman. However, Peter Jackson him down not once, but twice.

“He said, ‘Are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ‘No.’ Six months later: ‘Peter, are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ’No, Kevin, I already told you this’ I’m not a superhero guy. I read Tintin… Look, films are hard. I only want to make something that I have a deep passion for.”
