Amber Heard
Heard was speaking with Access when she detailed what it is that makes her character Mera so strong. She thinks fans to expect something fresh, with a voice that speaks to this generation very specifically:
“We’re not seeing the same thing, you know, we’ve seen before in the past. This is very much of our generation and speaks to now and the remains that you can see and hear in the audience or just in society in general. The calls, the demands for equal participation.”
She also made sure to explain that Mera won’t be just a damsel in distress and instead will have an actual purpose in the story:
“My character’s not just like a damsel, she doesn’t need to be rescued, in fact she does the rescuing mostly. She’s a kick ass character, she’s strong, she’s motivated, she has her own journey. She actually drives the story and it’s very much a two-hander between them as equal partners and not playing into, like I said, the typical formulaic stuff that we’ve seen before that has the male character doing all of the hero-ing.”
Momoa
E! live caught up with him at CinemaCon and asked him about what it means to have his own DCEU film.
“It means I’m the f****** man ! I’m super pumped and finally I got a movie that’s all join with awesome characters, amazing actors, a great director. It’s all mine!
Access caught up with Jason Momoa and asked him what fans were getting when they go see Aquaman this December.
“Its the origins, you know what I mean. I think it is a big beautiful story that no one really knows about… yeah, we start from birth, parents getting together who the little boy is, the man who becomes king, and yeah the adventure of him becoming king.”
Momoa was then asked how excited his children were to see the origin story with their pops in the titular role and in answering gave us some updates on what stage the film is at during post-production.
“My kids are.. I’m really proud because i just finished ADR on the whole film and just wrapped some couple little pickup shots I got to see a little bit of it I didn’t want to see the whole thing because the visual effects aren’t done yet but I got to ssee a lot of sense with her and I, and my kids are in it. They get to be little extras in it and they did a behind the scenes thing so its great, a lot of things I’m in they don’t get to see so Justice League and Aquaman, they got to be there.”
Patrick Wilson
Patrick Wilson, who will play Arthur Curry’s half-brother, spoke to Access about his experience on the set of the James Wan film:
“It was great it was unlike any other experience I’ve had and that being said we had our dp and same director of five films so it felt very comfortable so it was very new ground for us but it was people i knew very well with the exception of some of the actors so.”
Wilson had to do a lot of wire work for the film to simulate the underwater environment. While he did mention he did no scenes where he was actually underwater, he did do a lot of wire work to achieve that effect.
“…Its something we loved, Willem Dafoe and I spent a lot of time in wires together and it felt like we were doing some sort of experimental theater and it was kind of cool. For all the VFX wizardry at the end of the day you got a couple of actors hanging in wires and a green screen not knowing whats going on around you so all you have is your other scene partner, thats all you got, there is no crazy set behind you you can see so you are just focusing on the words and the relationship…”
