"What jumped out first was that the cast is just incredible. Any movie with that cast, how could you not be excited about getting to work with that group of people? And also, Jon Watts is my roommate from college, and knowing what a great experience he had making those films- I even did the second-unit LA portion of one of the Spider-Man movies. I had a little more of an [insider] connection to that world."
"Beyond that, it was really just a new approach and a different story to tell. It's not a sequel. Yes, these characters have appeared before but it is a new story being told. And a story with a very different perspective than people are expecting. I think that felt exciting and felt like a real challenge worth taking on."
"It's about characters and is there something specific to those characters that brings them together? Is there something that they're going through that isn't the most traditional superhero story to be told? And I think if you can hit that- and if you look at something like Beef, it's so specific on so many levels. Sonny (series creator Sung Jin Lee) brought so much of himself to it, as did Ali and Steven. And in making something that specific, become something universal."

"My good friend Steven Yeun is playing the Sentry in a movie."
“Yeah he called me, he went in for a costume fitting. I hope I’m not…I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that will get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe. We’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. what are they going to do to me?"
"Yeah, he called me and he said, 'I just came back from a costume fitting for the Sentry. I guess I only do superheroes that are yellow and blue.' He said he was at the costume fitting and was like, 'Aww, crap. I forgot Invincible was yellow and blue.'"
"So they have a lot of unexplored history. There's a lot of details that the director, Jake, has gone into the great care of what their life was like in the Midwest when they were doing all that spy stuff. And then, a lot of that comes up in really fun, interesting, beautiful ways, which, like in the Black Widow movie came up with that song, American Pie. And there's just a lot of complexity between me and Florence's character, which I love."
"And also they're two people that... she can't stand, but she needs some because she's incomplete in a certain way that he may be able to help her with. I think that's always so beautiful. Because I feel like our relationships are always so... Sometimes we don't get to choose the people that complete us. The people that we really need. I think that they exemplify that in their own way. It will be fun to bring that to life in the movie."
“We have almost started shooting that about 14 times.”
"I have confidence it’s gonna be good. I know everybody is sort of on this Marvel train right now of things not going so well."
"I know Jake so well and I know how smart Jake is and how much he cares about making something interesting and different and utilizing everyone’s talents to the best of their ability. And the story that I think they’ve come up with is really interesting - I know parts of the story and how the story works, I can’t talk about it. But it’s not a straightforward Marvel movie as you’ve seen in the past."
"I think that it’s gonna be a lot of fun but I think it will be something that hopefully Marvel fans will look at and go, ‘Oh ok, this is a little different, let’s go hard at it'. And as far as how we are approaching it, it’s time to go to work a little bit, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie so let’s do that and work hard at it and don’t take things for granted."
"I hope so. There’s so much to play with John, and there’s so much more to do with John. I’m so lucky to get to work with the kind of talent that I’m going to work with when Thunderbolts starts up in March or April."
"I don’t know when they’re starting yet, but Sebastian Stan is a great friend and you couldn’t ask for a better actor. Florence Pugh is one of the best actresses in the world right now, and she’s one of my personal favorite actresses in the world. David Harbour. Steven Yeun is one of the better actors in the world right now. You’ve got all of these people in this movie, and I couldn’t feel luckier."
